Our happenings this month have been pretty exciting. Sydney has lost her first tooth. It only took a small act of God and a little help from her friend Kate to remove the very loose tooth, which incidentally sat directly in front of the already completely grown in adult tooth. She had been playing with the very loose tooth for probably two months, but I just could not inspire her to rip it out. It took a nice dose of peer pressure and a good training in tooth pulling by her best friend Kate, who has already lost 6 teeth. It was pretty hilarious. The girls went into the bathroom and about a minute later Olivia came running out yelling, "Mom, Sydney lost her tooth!" I replied, "Whatever" not believing that she would have actually pulled it. Out runs Kate with a tissue and a tooth. I couldn't believe she had actually pulled the tooth, so I went to see the results. Her mouth was bleeding profusely and she was smiling widely. It was so cute. I helped her to swish some water and stop the bleeding. Then we made all the necessary phone calls to family and friends. Now we just need her to pull the other one that is yet again in front of a fully-grown adult tooth.
In other adventures, we registered Miss Olivia for kindergarten and I, in all my glory, cried like a baby when she was given her kindergarten t-shirt from the principle and showed off her skills at the open house. She will have the same teacher as Sydney next year, which is great because I just absolutely love her and her teaching techniques...I am hoping to be able to student teach with her if possible, but that is another blog altogether. She is very excited, but is such a different kid than her sister and was a bit shy with all the attention. Shocking I know, one of my kids shy. Coming off of the buzz of kindergarten registration we entered yet another milestone.
Both girls are now in soccer. It couldn't be cuter to see them in their long shorts, shin guards and long socks with cute little jerseys running down the field kicking the ball. Sydney picked out a pink ball with silver on it, would we expect anything else from her really? She is my girly girl. Olivia has yet to pick a ball, she is having a little trouble deciding on a ball that suits her personality. I think a rainbow would suit her well, she is my girl of many colors. They both have "games" every saturday for six weeks starting the first week of April. It should be a wonderful family event. I am officially a soccer mom and proud to be one. I never thought myself the type, and am probably going to be relatively different than most of them, but it is so fun all the same.
We are about to enter into spring break, which I couldn't be more pleased about. A little break from school and all the scheduled living and enjoy some play time with the kids and hopefully some fresh air too. School has been pretty exciting. I am striving to get A's in both of my classes, which has been hilarious because I get upset if I miss even one question on a quiz or get a B on a test... a much different animal than when I went before. I am really enjoying school and am excited to get into my education program. I took my Praxis exam, which is a teacher education examination scoring your knowledge areas. I took the Writing and Math. I did very well on the writing scoring 183/190 and not too bad on the Math 179/190. Both are above the qualifying scores, so I am hoping to hear soon on my status in the program. I am enrolled in summer school and have set up my class schedule for fall. My next two years are going to go quickly I can tell.
Well enough about us. I hope this finds you all well and I pledge today that I will TRY very hard to update this blog frequently.
