Pilgrims....get it.....that is my silly joke for April. So our April has begun nicely. Lots of rain for the first few days and then a beautiful sunday afternoon yesterday. Today is supposed to be even nicer, up to 68 degrees. We spent the majority of yesterday in the yard in the sun. I weeded all of the gardens, cleaned a litany of pine-cones from our yard and deck and swept everything in site. This is especially fun because Spring is my second favorite season, fall being the first. Warm sun, a cool breeze and birds singing, who could ask for more?
Spring has brought us many other joys as well....we have mice again! Those varmints are eating away at our camping gear in the garage and ate through the girls tiger striped double camping chair. That is how we started saturday morning before our soccer game. Tears and fits on the ground, and that was just me, I hadn't even told the girls yet. I loved that chair. Sad to report the chair had to be thrown out as the mousies apparently have a liking for animal print and chose our cute furry chair as their future Nest Sweet Nest.
After I calmed down....we made our way to the soccer field early and found our field among the hundreds of acres of fields and set up camp. Coloring books for Olivia, snacks, lunch, soccer gear and we are well on our way to a permanent life in the soccer field. Oh yes, I could be that soccer mom....Oh yes, I will be that soccer mom...if the girls continue to love it as much as they do thus far. They both look absolutely adorable in their gear, which helps to endear me to the sport a bit more, as well as the fact that they both can actually play pretty well. Sydney scored her first goal of the season and was pretty darned excited about it. Grandpa Scott and Uncle Phillip joined us to watch the game and also to lend a little footwork practice for the girls.
We had a great weekend and a wonderful start to spring. It can only get better from here. Next Saturday when you are sitting comfortably in your house around 11 am, do a little cheer for the Mountain Bluebirds soccer team for Sydney and the PAKS soccer team for Olivia. Happy Spring!
ahhh, the north end!! We got the little varmits (ode to Yosemite Sam there) every year we lived there, too. Why is it that in a pet store they're just cute and wouldn't terrify anyone, but if they are loose in your house, you live in fear and jump on tables when skitters by, screaming like a little girl?!?!
