I have finally finished my first semester of college as a grown-up. I say grown-up because when I attended school before, I was far from grown-up. I am pleased to announce that in my own perfectionist way I have A's in both of my classes. Now, mind you, these aren't just any A's. These are A's that come from the blood sweat and tears of a mother on the brink of a break down. Okay, not really, but that sounded super dramatic and fun. Must be the literature class I took. Speaking of which, I read over 1700 pages for that class. I have no idea how many novels and short stories, but it spanned 400 years. Suffice it to say, I feel as though I am a much more literate adult. Now time to read some silly stuff! Where is the mindless junk like Twilight when I need it? Seriously though, I kicked some freshman butt in both of my classes, missing only one question on my theater final and rocking my creative project where I designed four costumes for a play getting 110/100 points possible. I received 14.33 points out of 15 on my literature final and 14.77 out ouf 15 on my research paper. For a total grade of 100.63% in my lit class. Yes, for all of you out there, that is an A+ the first of its kind to come across a Banuelos/Anderson transcript. I am a proud mama to say the least. I think the students in my theater class hate me though, because I have thoroughly ruined the curve, but who cares I STUDIED!
I have three weeks until I begin my summer school classes, which I do believe constitutes me as a glutton for punishment. I am taking Biology four days a week from 9am-2pm for the first 8 week session and then History four days a week from 2-4pm for eight more weeks. I believe I will be ready for some serious down time when it is all said and done before I begin the fall semester with 14 credits all day Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-3pm, with a small lunch break for 20 minutes in between. I know, you are all asking "What is she thinking?" She is thinking that for once she is going to finish something, finish it well and be able to stand back and be proud of what she has done. That is my goal. Not just to get a job and teach the world, but to show my girls the value of finishing what you start. And along the way I hope to show myself that being a mother, a wife and a student will be the most challenging and rewarding adventure I have embarked on in a very long time. So there you have it, the rantings of a study-free woman (for a few weeks anyway) who is just now wading her way through the mess of a house that has been neglected badly for the past few months. I will update you all on summer school (although it may just be blah blah blah to you all).
