This is when everything takes a turn for the worst. I go to my next class, which is often unorganized and has no real purpose. But today it did, we were bringing in drafts of our final assignment for the teacher to review and decide if we needed to do more. Of course, me being the over acheiver that I am, I am finished and have it all ready and pretty. That is when it happens. Someone in class asks about part of the assignment and the teacher adds on this whole extra assignment because she forgot she had previously unassigned it. I know that makes no sense, because it SHOULDN'T! Anyway, aside from the horrible sinking feeling I am having in my stomach, I realize she has gone over class time to talk about all of this and I am late to pick up Sydney from school. So I get to the parking lot, still pretty frazzled and upset about the assignment, and you guessed it....I scratched the car pulling out of my parking space and hit the cement divider thingy because I did not judge correctly how far I was from it. Great, now I have wrecked my car. So I have to pull back in to the spot, scratching all the way and correct myself to get out of there! I haul my sorry self to Sydney's school, 10 minutes late, she is playing happily on the playground.
Now we must go to grandma's to pick up Olivia, in Eagle. So I decide, I better call my husband and let him in on the news I mussed the car up. I call. He laughs. I cry. It was that simple. It was a culmination of things and I just cried, all the way to Eagle. Then I get there and try to act all smooth, my mom immediatly notices, so I have to tell her the whole story I have just told you. Feeling a bit better now since I have vented, our next stop is the Winco by my mom's to get snack for the girls' classrooms. We are walking the hallowed aisles of Winco, FOREVER mind you, to find the oh so perfect snack. Mommy, who is already teetering on the edge of insane, begins to lose her patience and says "I am picking the snack, you are taking too long"
So we proceed to the muffin aisle, where I intend to by a Jiffy mix and call it a day. As we pull into the aisle, I hear the sound of crashing, breaking glass. I look over to see my oldest with a face filled with shame and ask "What happened?" I got an "I don't know" Really, you don't know, hmmmm let me see here....spill it kid! So I ask, "Were you running your hand along the jars of jam and one fell off?" "Yes Mom, sorry. "
"Ok fine, go find someone from the store to help clean it up and I will stay with the spill." Fine. And seriously, you CANNOT make this next part up....I hear another crash! Yes, really. Olivia had turned around and her hat on her big winter coat had caught another one of the jars and knocked it onto the ground. So now there is a bit of strawberry and a bit of orange marmalade jam nicely decorating the white tile floor. I sighed and said to the woman next to us (as she silently snickered mind you) "Did that really just happen?" She smiled sweetly and said yes.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Could this day possibly get any worse.....oh yes it can!
So we make it home safely with snacks and dinner. I cook dinner and proceed to barf my frustration on my poor husband with my issues from class.
I decide then, which is both a good idea and a bad idea, to write my teacher an email stating exactly how I feel about the extra work. And this is just what I do. It is an emotional email, yet very well thought out (snicker) and well written. I send it off into cyberspace, but not before forwarding a copy to a couple classmates...( I need witnesses man). Well then, in my infinite brilliance, I decide, I will just text my classmates I emailed and say this
"hey ladies, I just sent Danielle a complaint email and I forwarded a copy to you on Broncoweb. Check it out!"
Harmless right, WELL NOT IF YOU SENT THAT TEXT TO YOUR TEACHER TOO ON ACCIDENT! I know right now you are saying, "Seriously Heather? Did this really all happen or are you making this up?" I could not make this up even if I was Tina Faye!
So moments later my cell phone rings and who should it be but my teacher....embarrassed, because by now I have realized that I have sent her the text too, I answer. She is sweet and very understanding and we both have a good laugh and she listens to me and admits she was wrong and changes the assignment. So it actually ended well, but boy did I have to take a hard road to get there.
Now the moral of this story is, DONT EVER, EVER, EVER forget a story like this one so that you can blog about it the next day! Love you all!
Well, look at it this way: your bad day made for a GREAT blog!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm thinking you shouldn't go out of your house tomorrow. A piano or an anvil might land on your head.
It's already Friday. I'm a little behind in my emails. Uh, did an anvil or a piano land on head? (Somebody would have told me, right?)
ReplyDeleteBut, don't worry -- it's almost Christmas! I can hear the bells. (Polar Express, not Hairspray)
